Puffins Oct 15 022Welcome to Songbird Collectibles!

We are back to work in our Florida workshop after a delightful summer in Maine.  Now we are busy filling Early Christmas orders and getting ready for the two shows this Fall.  The first show in Moultrie, Ga (Calico Creations Expo) is Nov.  14 and 15 .  The Show in Gainesville, FL at the McConnell Center is December 4 and 5.  We will look forward to seeing many of you during these days.

Our newest bird, the Brown Pelican, has finally arrived, and it will come in two sizes.  The largest size shown here will be mounted on Red-heart Cedar from the Gulf of Mexico.   We recently visited Cedar Key while Beth was in the process of painting the Pelican.   The color of their plumage can vary, depending upon age and season, but adult birds are primarily grey and brown with a little bit of white and yellow on their heads.   See the Brown Pelican page for more pictures and info.

Please contact us if we can help you with any gifts or special orders.

History of Songbird Collectibles

Bill and Beth Fewell, avid bird watchers, established Songbird Collectibles in 1990 in the little town of Sedgwick, Maine, only 15 miles as a crow flies from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Inspired by the rich diversity of native birds in the northern woods and along the rocky coast of Maine, Bill and Beth wanted to share their love of nature with others. For over two decades now, Bill, an award-winning carver, has studied in detail the behaviors and physical features of the birds that visit their backyard feeders and spring-fed pond. Using his unique knowledge of birds, he and Beth – who hand-paints each bird – create birds so lifelike that, without closer inspection, you might mistake them for the real thing.

Due to the significant demand of Bill’s artwork – and to make his creations more accessible – Songbird Collectibles began wood casting their most popular birds using a natural, wood product (recycled pecan shells). Akin to a painter’s lithograph, these beautiful wood castings are each hand-painted and mounted to select pieces of coastal driftwood or cedar bases. Special care and detail is devoted to each and every bird – an important and essential part of their creative process.

We hope that you enjoy our website and will check back frequently, as new birds are periodically added to our collection. If you do not see what you are looking for, and would like to place a special order, please inquire with us. We do our best to please our loyal customers!
